Welcome to Cyprus! As you guys remember Mike and I went to Cyprus for a few days last September. It was my first time in the country and we were so looking forward to enjoying some real, hot sun on our skin.
We got there and the temperature was ideal! We realized we were finally enjoying a proper summer temperature after our "summer" in London. We were ready to embrace all the adventures, food and landscapes Cyprus had to offer.
Every morning we were delighted by dreamy sunrises above the sea, seaside walks and dips in the pool. We also spiced it up a bit with some early morning yoga and some evening runs every now and then.
We ended up being known by the staff members at a local bakery… We just got hypnotized by all the bread, pastries and sweets they sold. (see picture below :P).
Everything was going smooth until the sky started to appear a bit misty one evening… well, the next morning that light mist happened to be a dust storm that was arriving all the way from Syria. We could not see anything around us or difference the sea from the sky. We would joke and say it looked like the scenery has been taken out from a zombie apocalypse movie, but it really did. During those days we barely got out of the house; only to take essential trips to the bakery! And to go get one massive pizza to share one night. Also, we even manage to watch the last 10 episodes of breaking bad in one day. Luckily, the sky started to clear up three days before we had to get back to London.
One morning we had planned to head down to Konnos Bay to do some yoga on the beach during sunrise. We woke up at 5:30am, left the house by 6:00… and by 6:30 our car broke down in the middle of the highway. No need to describe how we felt, because I guess you can imagine! After 45 minutes we were rescued by a man who barely spoke any English. We thank him still.
The next day, our early trip to the the Bay to enjoy some yoga during sunrise was successful! The place looked calm, with no waves or footprints on the sand. The water looked so crystal clear that we could not help but doing some snorkeling around the rocks to see what was going on under water.
We definitely had some days to remember.
Cyprus, you were wonderful! Can`t wait to come back again soon.
