It was my first time in the United Arab Emirates. We landed in Dubai at night time and went for dinner at a great Mexican restaurant that set the trend for the holiday because we ate SO much. We didn't get to enjoy the sun that day but we checked in at what's probably the best hotel I have ever been before - The Address Dubai Marina. The room was dreamy and was full of big windows from where you could witness the Marina and numerous skyscrapers around it.
The main excuse to take this trip was to visit Mike's family and to run the Wadi Bih Trail Race in Oman together, but I won't go into further detail right now because I will write a special post about it later on.
During our holiday we did so much. We played tourist and visited the most remarkable landmarks, including the tour to the sky up to the 148th floor of the Burj Khalifa - you do feel like you are on top of the world when you go up there! We toured the famous Dubai Mall and its two thousand shops; we went on a spontaneous night adventure to Nasimi Beach in The Palm and enjoyed the Atlantis resort's incredible water park. We also visited the Dubai Miracle Garden, an oasis of flowers in the arid desert city.
It was also a very gastronomic vacation. We had a heavenly delicious breakfast at a cafe by JBR beach (see the place and pancakes below); we enjoyed the taste of Argentinian food at Asado; the spicy flavours of Indian food in Amal restaurant, which is located in the Armani Hotel; the fresh refined Japanese cuisine at Zuma, I have never had better Japanese food than that!
On our last afternoon we spend some time relaxing on Jumeirah Beach, we had a well-deserved siesta on the sand and then we hunted a prime location to take pictures of the sunset at 360 Bar.
It was the perfect winter break, the weather, the surroundings and the company couldn't have been better.
See you some other time, Dubai!
